Merry Christmas!

nativity.jpgI seriously can’t believe that it’s that time of year again. I’m sitting here participating in all the Christmas traditions, and I’m going, the last time I did this could not have been a whole year ago. I haven’t even graduated from high school yet, and the years are already flying by incredibly fast.

It just goes to show you how fragile life really is, how fleeting. I am so thankful that I have hope for not only this life, but the life after.

I hope that you all will be able to take a few moments this Christmas to really relflect on the true meaning of Christmas: the birth of Jesus Christ. The entrance of God into our world.

I know that many of us have heard the story thousands of times, but when you really try to wrap your mind around that concept, it’s unbelieveable. God, the creator of this world, humbled Himself so low that He started life as a completely dependant child with very poor and unknown people as parents. I mean, this is God Himself! He should have entered the world majestically. He should have flown in with golden chariots and trumpets proclaiming His entrance. But no. He came in the humblest of places. It’s just remarkable.

Even more remarkable is that He did that for you and me. He came into this world, He lived the perfect life that none of us could, He died the death that we deserved, and He rose from the dead. He conquered death. It’s truly a reason to celebrate.

I am so thankful that He did that for me. I know my heart. I know there is no way that I could ever deserve any of that. I can’t earn His favor. I am a rotten sinner. I’m not worthy of anything. But because of His incredible love and grace towards me, He came into this world, lived the perfect life that I couldn’t, died the death that I deserved, and rose from the dead.

It’s all unconditional. Ultimately, none of us are worthy. I know that we like to hide our dark secrets. We don’t like to admit that we mess up and that we are really broken inside. We get really good at putting on a good face. But we’re all broken people. We really don’t have it together. We need something bigger than us to step in and save us. And that’s what Christmas is all about. It’s God reaching down to us and rescuing us when there was no way that we could do it on our own. It is my hope that you will realize this amazing truth this Christmas.

I found this quote this week by Peter Larson:

“Despite our efforts to keep him out, God intrudes. The life of Jesus is bracketed by two impossibilities: a virgin’s womb and an empty tomb. Jesus entered our world through a door marked, ‘No Entrance’ and left through a door marked ‘No Exit.'”

I hope that all my readers and fellow bloggers have a wonderful Christmas filled with joy and laughter and fun times with friends and family. I am so thankful for you guys!!
