Blogging the Padres in ’10

I am very excited to be starting my second full season of blogging here at MLBlogs.com. It’s been an amazing experience, I look forward to much more blogging about my boys here! And so I would like to present to you my new blogging philosophy-type-thing. Here’s what you can expect from this blog this season, and what I want to accomplish:

  • First off, you can expect next-day game analysis. I love to write about the games, so that’s what you’ll see a lot here. I’ll go over the pitching, the big hits, the defense, etc. I usually write about a good part of the game, but I’m going to do it in a way that both imforms people who didn’t watch the game and keeps the attention of the people who watched the game, read the paper, or know what happened in the game already. If you’re a die-hard Padres fan, you mostly likely know all the highlights by the next morning, and those are old news to you. But I want you to be able to read my entries and not be like, been there, done that. The way I will do that will be by going beyond the game a little bit while still talking baout it. I’m going to use a lot of pictures, opinions, stories, and stuff that you won’t see in a box score.
  • I want my entries to be interesting, entertaining, and the quality of stuff you’d read on padres.com. I want my stuff to be fun to read. I want you to be entertained here. I want you to be able to see this as fun place with fun entries to read. I write this for you guys to enjoy.
  • Part of the success of this blog is feedback from you, the reader. I am very open to suggestions and opinions from all my readers. You guys are the ones reading this stuff, and if there’s something you’d like to see here, let me know. If you disagree with something that I say, tell me about it and explain your opinion. If you tell me that you hate the Padres, that’s cool with me. I respect everyone’s opinion, and I know that not everyone is going to like my favorite team. But I will explain to you why I love the Padres. If you predict that the Padres are going to finish last in the West, I’ll tell you why I don’t think that’s going to happen. I’ll argue for my team, but I won’t do it in a mean way. In fact, one of my favorite things to do is defend my team to naysayers. I love it! We all have different opinions about different things, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t have a good debate about it.
  • I want to expand my readership through Facebook, Twitter, and other blogs and networks. I really love being able to share my Padres thoughts with all of you. I’ve “met” so many amazing people through this, and I really want to continue that.
  • One of the things that I love about having this blog is the ability to express my opinion. I am sure that this blog would be terribly boring without my opinions and thoughts sprinkled throughout it. I’m not afraid to rip into any of these guys on the 25-man roster if I feel that they’re not playing up to their full potential. I have been known to rip the whole team after some horrible games. Of course, the only reason I do that is because I love these guys a lot and I want to them to do well. When they aren’t doing well, they don’t deserve to be praised. I remember a time last year when I was sooo frustrated with the guys that I just couldn’t stand it anymore. I converted to the Red Sox Nation for the weekend, which included changing the background on my blog. Yeah, it was that bad. So, you’ll get a lot of my opinons here, the good and the bad.
  • Most of all, I want to give glory to God through this blog. Part of that includes not getting angry at people who have different opinions than me, being able to debate with people about baseball but not in a mean way, and ripping into my team nicely. I am sooo thankful to God for everything, and He’s been so good to me. The least I can do is give glory to Him in everything that I do. Thank you God!!

So that’s what I want to do this year. I want to provide you guys with quality writing and Padres analysis. I want to entertain you guys and have a lot of fun this year. I love blogging a lot, and I have a blast doing it. I’m so thankful that I get to!

Here’s to an amazing season of Padres baseball. Don’t predict my team to end last, ’cause we’re going to surprise you. I don’t know how good we’re going to be, but we’re going to be better. I hope you’ll take this journey of 162 games along with me and this blog. Thank you so much for reading!!

We’ve got some unfinished business: winning the World Series.

GO PADRES!!!!
