Who Are You?
Will the real San Diego Padres please stand up??
I don’t know my team anymore. Who are you? Where’s the team that went 9-4 at the beginning of the season? Where’s the team who had a ten-game winning streak going only two weeks ago?
I don’t know who my team is anymore. Are they the ones who get swept, who can’t hit and can’t pitch, or are they the ones that went 9-4 and had a ten-game winning streak? I don’t know. I have no idea what’s going on.
In the first three months of the season, all the Padres have been doing is going up and down. They’ll win four series in a row and then lose a series and get swept in the next. They’re bats will be working like crazy, matched with excellent pitching, and then the next week they can’t pitch and they can’t hit. It drives a fan nuts, and something’s gotta give eventually.
We’re only into the third month of the season, but this team needs to figure out who they are. Are they going to be a winning team, or a losing team? It’s as simple as that. We’ve seen a lot of both so far. One week we’ll be riding a high with this team, but the next they’ve sent us crashing into the waves.
Right now, we’re 11.5 games behind those pesky Dodgers, and we’re on a four-game losing streak. The Dodgers are showing no signs of slowing, yet. I still believe that they’ll going to cool down and we will be able to get all the way up there and ever overtake LA. But we have to keep the distance as close as possible so that we can be in a good position to strike when the Dodgers do fall apart.
So, are we going to give up and sink farther, or are we going to fight and wait to stay in this thing? It’s not over til it’s over; we’ve got a ton of baseball left. But at some point, a team’s gotta say what they want to do, determine what they are going to do, and they have to do it. I don’t know when my team will do that. But they need to do it soon.
Listening to the games is getting old. This week, we’ve lost four games badly. I don’t want to listen to it. I just don’t. Nobody likes losing. Last night we were down 5-0 by the fifth inning and you could just tell that our hitters weren’t going to get anything. They are dead in the water right now.
Adrian is getting walked almost every at-bat. The numbers are ridiculous. People are getting smarter, and they don’t want anything to do with Adrian. So they Unintentionally Intentionally walk him. He doesn’t have a legitimate threat batting behind him. Sorry Kouz, but he really doesn’t. Kouz doesn’t scare the opposing pitchers. Not many of our guys do.
We got four hits last night. Two from Eck and two from Chase. Good job, guys, you were able to figure out Doug Davis, who we’ve faced how many times? We face this guy ALL the time…why haven’t you figured him out yet???
Our pitching was pretty terrible. They gave up runs, and we lost 8-0. Ouch. Not what we needed at all.
I don’t know what’s wrong with this team. I don’t know who they are. I don’t know what they’re going to be. I don’t know how many fans are going to stick with this team.
One thing I do know, though, is that Adrian will be voted into the All-Star game tonight, and a huge crowd will get Adrian action figures, but he won’t get the chance to hit.
Last night I got to watch my close friend play his last games of volleyball this season. His team actually won the championship – against their own school! That was pretty funny. It was a lot of fun to see my friend play (he’s REALLY good), and to see them win! They were undefeated the whole season, losing only a exhibition game to some girls (haha). It was very exciting, and I am so happy that they won!
Today is some more championships, with my brother’s team looking to get to the World Series. I really really really hope they can make it!! I’m really looking forward to eating seeds again, and watching some good baseball (unlike the Padres). Hopefully my brother’s team will play hard and come out with a win!! GO PIRATES!!
To make me feel better about the Padres, here’s a picture of my baby that was in the newspaper yesterday:
Well. Kevin Correia will give up many runs for the Padres and the lineup will hopefully get a few more hits. HA! No, maybe Correia will be able to hold the Diamondbacks down and we can win a game this week.
