5 To Go

  • 1-0 Rockies

There’s not much to say about this game. Josh Geer was good, but he had over 100 pitches in 5 innings. But he did get one of our 5 hits. Will Venable, Brian Giles, Kouz, and Sean Kazmar had the other 4 hits. The bullpen was pretty good. Heath Bell actually gave up two hits, but was able to get out of it. Kouz got hit-by-pitch for the 14th time this season. He now has the all-time Padres record for hit-by-pitch in a season. Go Kouz. Nick Hundley threw out Matt Holliday stealing a base. Well, that’s about all. We lost, very pathetically. Now we only have to lose 5 more games to get to the 100-loss mark. I really, really, hope we don’t, though. After the off-day today, we will start a three-game series with the Nationals. Jake Peavy is pitching tomorrow night. Oh, the Padres 2009 schedule came out yesterday. It is very interesting. The Padres will be starting and closing at home, which is really nice. I can’t wait. GO PADRES!!

All I can say is thank goodness that the 2009 schedule is out. I am ready to put this season behind us. It was only a year ago when both our teams were fighting for the Wild Card.
