Failures

Jake started off OK. After a CY Young worthy year, his first start of the season was tremendous. But after the 22 inning game, the Padres have fallen apart. Jake has been pitching very well, but it seems so hopeless when he goes out there and gets beat by his own team. This offense can’t give their ace ANY support. If you’re watching him, you can tell that he’s trying. Last night, he didn’t give up a run til the 4th. But then he gave up single runs in the 5th and 6th. Finally, he gave up 2 more in the 8th to lose the game. He gave us 8 innings. He threw 112 pitches. But he struggled, giving up 11 hits. This guy is so amazing. He shouldn’t be on this team. He deserves to get more than this. But he’s stuck here. Anyway, now I have to tell you about his horrible offense. We had 7 hits. We also got walked by every single Giants pitcher, a total of 5 walks. We left 11 runners on. Notice that we are sort of trying. We just can’t hit with runners on base. Well, except Adrian Gonzalez. He was able to get his 4th homer in 5 games, a 2-run shot to left field. That’s the sad, sad story.

But there is hope for some good baseball, at least. Tonight is Tim Lincecum vs. Chris Young. If you recall, CY threw a complete game on Sunday. He gave up 2 hits and a run, and that was it. Lincecum hasn’t been bad himself. In his last start on Monday, he went 8 and 1/3 innings, giving up 1 run. This will be a pitcher’s duel, and I am looking forward to it. GO PADRES!!
